The promise of Easter

08/04/2018

Well happy belated Easter everybody. I really hope that you have a great Easter and that you could see God's working through it a little.

I know I had a good Easter. I went to UNTD YTH'S Easter camp down on the river at Walker Flat. I cannot even begin to explain all the miraculous events that took place over that weekend. We had the amazing Sam Long as our guest speaker and Nath shared a little bit as well.

One thing that Sam touched on in the first session, Friday night, was that we all have "dirty laundry". Basically, our dirty laundry is the stuff that we've done or that someone else has done to us that we find embarrassing. Admittedly, we ALL have dirty laundry that we don't want other to know about and so we deal with that dirty laundry in a small hidden away room in our hearts and put on a happy face when were out because we don't want anyone to see it.

Well God says that he takes us with our dirty laundry. See that's the promise of Easter. That we can live forgiven and clean through Christ. All we must do to get there is to have faith in God, (that he died on the cross, rose to life and that he will come back one day) and to ask for forgiveness from God.

You see, while your struggles are visible to Christ, you are still valuable to Christ. It says in Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

The impact of this statement is astonishing. That God lived a perfect life and died a perfect man but that he would take all our pain and sin and resentment and anger and hate and scars onto his body and disposed of it so that although we still sin now we can still be forgiven.

My favourite song right now just restates all of this I couldn't earn it and I don't deserve it, still you gave yourself away. O the overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God.

He really does love u in that he initiated a relationship with you before you probably even knew about him. And he wants to show you how valuable you are to him, that's why he died on the cross.
